Project Description:
This project proposes to widen SR 178 from Vineland Road to Rancheria Road. Initial construction would widen approximately 3.2 miles of SR 178 to four lanes from Vineland Road to Miramonte Drive. Sufficient right-of-way will be acquired for an ultimate six-lane facility. The environmental document includes clearance for a future interchange at Vineland Road and SR 178, which is programmed to be funded through the City of Bakersfield’s Transportation Impact Fee (TIF) program.

Project Status:
Preliminary alignment studies and environmental technical studies are underway. Circulation of the Draft Environmental Document is anticipated in early 2011, and approval of the final environmental document is expected in late 2011. Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2012.
